The Challenge

The client approached us with a house that was old and visibly worn down. Years of wear and tear had left many parts of the home damaged, outdated, and in need of a major refurbishment. Instead of doing a basic renovation, the client had a bigger vision, to transform the space into a homestay that stands out from the crowd.

They wanted a unique concept with retro vibes, something eye-catching and full of character. The home also had a lot of unused extra space, which presented both a challenge and an opportunity to turn it into something functional and inviting.

Another important request was to bring in a touch of nature, creating a warm and refreshing atmosphere that guests would enjoy.

Our Solution

To meet all of these goals, RHM proposed a modern mid-century concept, a timeless design style known for its clean lines, bold colours, and nostalgic charm. This approach gave the home a retro-inspired personality while still feeling fresh and contemporary.

We carefully curated unique furniture pieces and colour selections that reflect the retro era, instantly giving the homestay a distinctive and memorable identity. These choices not only matched the client’s vision but also help the space stand out in a competitive homestay market.

To bring in elements of nature, we incorporated artificial plants throughout the interior, low maintenance yet effective in adding warmth, freshness, and texture to the space.

Recognising the need to accommodate larger groups, we maximised the layout by adding ample sleeping and seating areas, making sure the homestay is both comfortable and practical for multiple guests.

The final result is a vibrant, retro-modern homestay full of character, functionality, and comfort, ready to welcome guests looking for a stay that’s anything but ordinary.
