The Challenge

This project was shaped by the client’s distinct lifestyle and personal preferences. They enjoyed spending time outside the home, especially for coffee, which meant the design needed to accommodate their love for the outdoors. Unlike typical homeowners, they specifically requested not to have a television in the living area, preferring a space that encourages conversation and mindfulness.

With a large family living under one roof, functionality and communal comfort were key considerations. On top of that, the client had a strong dislike for gold finishes and gravitated instead towards a retro-inspired aesthetic, something warm, nostalgic, and full of character.

Our Solution

To reflect the client’s lifestyle and personality, we proposed an outdoor patio, a cozy retreat where they could enjoy their coffee in peace and comfort without leaving home. Inside, we embraced their request for a TV-free living area by replacing the usual media setup with a custom bookshelf, turning the space into a relaxed reading and gathering zone.

Given the size of the household, we incorporated ample seating throughout the home to ensure everyone had a place to unwind and connect. For the overall design language, we introduced a mid-century modern concept, clean lines, rich textures, and a timeless retro feel to bring their vision to life while staying true to their style.
