The Challenge
For this landed home project, the client had a clear vision but it came with a few unique conditions. They wanted the overall colour palette to be soft and calming without giving the space a feminine look. Creating a cozy and warm mood was also a priority as the client wanted the house to feel inviting and relaxing at all times.
Functionality was another key concern. The area under the staircase was completely unused, and the client didn’t want to waste that valuable space. Despite currently living alone, the client comes from a large family and often hosts gatherings, so the home needed to accommodate more people comfortably without feeling cramped.
Our Solution
To strike the perfect balance between softness and masculinity, we selected a soft-toned colour scheme, but avoided flat, plain finishes. Instead, we introduced textured cement render on selected walls, adding depth and character while keeping the look modern and grounded.
For ambiance, we implemented a warm white lighting setup throughout the home to achieve a cozy, welcoming feel, perfect for everyday living and hosting guests.
Under the staircase, we proposed a custom display rack, transforming a previously dead space into a practical and aesthetic storage feature. To support the client’s frequent family visits, we included a large 7-seater dining table and a spacious L-shaped sofa, offering comfort and space without sacrificing style.
In the bedroom, we added a dedicated display cabinet to house the client’s personal collection of perfumes and rare items, a thoughtful touch that not only highlights their personality but also elevates the space with a curated feel.
The result is a cozy, functional, and thoughtfully designed home that meets the client’s lifestyle today, while anticipating their needs for tomorrow.
